LOWE IS BACK WITH THE NEW SYNTH-DISCO ALBUM 'EVOLVER'.
The Swedish electronic pop-noir trio LOWE is back with their third album EVOLVER. Their latest single BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT went straight to #1 on iTunes Alternative Charts in Sweden. The new album EVOLVER will be released on September 13th. In 2004 Swedish synth band LOWE released their debut album. It didn't take long before they gained international recognition through nominations for "Best song", "Best album" and took home the prize as "Best newcomer" at the Scandinavian Alternative Music Awards. They've made several tours that led to huge success outside Sweden, especially in Eastern Europe. Last year LOWE toured for the first time in USA and Canada. They were the first non-American band ever to appear on The Real Radio Show, live from the Times Square in New York.
With the success of BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT in the Spring, the much-anticipated new album EVOLVER will be released worldwide on September 13th. - EVOLVER is our darkest album so far, says Leo Josefsson, lead singer in LOWE. - A mixture of mono-synths and disco balls, bass player Rickard Gunnarsson explains. - It was time to discover new territories. We've been experimenting a lot with the sound and the songs even though EVOLVER is our most homo-genic album to date, says keyboardist Tobias Ersson. Tracklist 'EVOLVER':
01 Alpha Bravo
02 Mirage
03 Breathe In Breathe Out
04 Adorable
05 Live to Love
06 Half the Double Speed
07 Alone in the Dark
08 Forever
09 EdT
LOWE BIOGRAPHY
No matter what Lowe decides to do, one can always be sure that there is a thought behind it. Chance is certainly a part in it all, but when something unplanned occurs, there is still the option to accept or not accept the result.
Founded in 2003 by Leo Josefsson and Rickard Gunnarsson, Lowe has grown with each album. Together with their third part, Tobias Ersson, Lowe have found new ground with a major '93 sjumilakliv '94(a Swedish word for a very long step). This sjumilakliv is clearly Evolver. As with their previous work, Evolver can have many different meanings for each of us. For some, Evolver is like an innovative genetic algorithm optimizer. For others, it could seem like a monophonic synth-driven world. For Lowe, Evolver represents the next level and an important one. Alpha Bravo opens up this new atmospheric world of Lowe. The enticing rhythm of Mirage takes you to the dance floor, only to be improved by their latest single. Breathe In Breathe Out with its grand intro, is a stand-out track that leads you gracefully into the body of Evolver.
Lowe calls the style of their music pop noir, which is indeed a fitting label. Pop noir describes their many influences, entrenched in the world of electronic music. The Scandinavian heritage of A-Ha and ABBA can be heard in the more melodic passages of the album. And eighties favorites, Ultravox, The Cure and The Mission, have clearly left a mark. Lowe has managed to stay true to the traditional synth-based music of old while moving in new and unexpected directions. The past is fondly waving hello to the future. The single Breathe In, Breathe Out has already impressed the world. When it was released it went straight to the top of the iTunes Alternative chart. But it is not the only impressive thing Lowe can boast about. In November 2010, Lowe were the first Swedish band ever to perform live at Times Square in New York. This past Summer Lowe also played four shows at Sweden's infamous Kumla prison. Touring abroad has been a celebrated custom for Lowe since the early days. Latvia, Serbia, Poland, Bosnia, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey, Germany and the UK are among the countries that have been visited and toured extensively by Lowe. Lowe has full control over their music through their own record company, Megahype. But they do have partner labels to help them abroad. WTII Records will be releasing Evolver in the United States while Universal/Topkapi will make the album available in Turkey and the Ukraine.
